Get the Care You Need While Maximizing Your Insurance Benefits

At Peak Performance Institute, we believe that choosing the right mental health provider is one of the most important decisions you can make. While we are an out-of-network provider, many clients are able to receive reimbursement from their insurance company for a portion of their services through their out-of-network benefits.

Our team is committed to helping you understand your options and make informed decisions about your care.

What Does Out-of-Network Mean?

An out-of-network provider is a healthcare professional or practice that does not have a contracted reimbursement agreement with your insurance company.

This means:

  • We do not bill insurance companies directly.
  • Payment is made at the time of service.
  • You may be eligible for partial reimbursement through your insurance plan’s out-of-network benefits.
  • You have greater flexibility in choosing the provider that best meets your needs.

Many clients are surprised to learn that their insurance plan may still help cover a portion of the cost of services, even when working with an out-of-network provider.

Why Do Clients Choose Out-of-Network Care?

Greater Choice of Providers

Out-of-network benefits allow you to select a therapist, psychologist, or evaluator based on experience, expertise, and fit—not simply whether they are listed in an insurance directory.

More Personalized Treatment

Insurance companies often place restrictions on treatment duration, diagnoses, and services. Out-of-network care allows treatment decisions to be based on your individual needs and goals.

Increased Privacy

Using insurance often requires providers to submit diagnoses, treatment plans, and clinical information. Many clients prefer the additional confidentiality that comes with private pay and out-of-network services.

Access to Specialized Services

Psychological testing, neuropsychological evaluations, performance coaching, trauma-focused treatment, and specialized assessments may be more readily available through providers who work outside of insurance networks.

How Out-of-Network Reimbursement Works

The process is often simpler than many people expect:

Step 1: Verify Your Benefits

Contact your insurance company and ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What is my deductible?
  • What percentage of services are reimbursed after my deductible is met?
  • Is preauthorization required?
  • Are psychological evaluations covered?

Step 2: Receive Services

You will pay Peak Performance Institute directly at the time services are provided.

Step 3: Submit for Reimbursement

We can provide a detailed receipt, often called a Superbill, that includes the information your insurance company typically requires for reimbursement.

Step 4: Receive Reimbursement

If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse you directly based on your coverage.

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company

Before your first appointment, consider asking:

  • Do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits?
  • What is my annual deductible?
  • How much of the deductible has been met?
  • What percentage of the fee is reimbursed?
  • Is there a limit on the number of sessions covered?
  • Are psychological and neuropsychological evaluations eligible for reimbursement?
  • Is preauthorization required?

Taking a few minutes to verify benefits can help you better understand your potential reimbursement.
